Today I introduce "Pink Floyd".

Pink Floyd is very famous band group. Their music is philosofical and political, and called progressive rock and many people are attructed by their songs. Progressive rock is that does not follow convensional ideas such as using the electric guitar or the electric bass. Pink Floyd sometime uses classical music or jazz music's elements. Progressive rock is demanded to have very good techniques and a sense of music so it is few artist which becomes famous in this music type. For instance, the famous music artist King Crimson or Yes are called progressive rock artists and they have amazingly good music tastes.

Pink Floyd isn't famous in Japan because they hate to be open to mass-media. But I hope they became more popular and be listened their songs by more people in Japan.

Today, I introduce "Arctic monkeys".

Arctic monkeys is the best band group which debut in 2004. Their songs are so cool and passionately that they are soon became famous however they were only 19 to 21 years old. People called them "the returning of Oasis" or "the returning of THE STROKES" and are the focus of not only public people but also many artists' attention. So they often critisized by many people; sometimes it is a famous artist.

But they fight against the pressure and now, their music are listened by so many people.

Today I introduce ''Bloc Party''.


Bloc Party is made up for 4 members and their band group has various races. The vocal Kele Okereke's parents are from Nigeria and his skin is black. The guitar Russell Lissack and the bass Gordon Moakes are English but drums Matt Tong is Asian English because Tong's mother is English but his father is Malacian Chinese.
Their music type is called ''Post Punk''. Arctic Monkeys or Japanese band group POLYSICS
are the same type but each musics has unique sense. Bloc Party combines their original music with punkrock, techno music, and dance music.
These unique ideas grow them to be famous.

The famous English artist(3)

Today I introduce the band "Radiohead".
Radiohead was set up on 1985 in Oxford. They were students of High or Junior High school when the root band "On a Friday" were set up. They were already strange from the other band groups then and soon they became famous. Their most famous song "Creep" is very cool. The Japanese famous artist Shina Ringo most loves this song.
Creep is as popluar as "Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)", "Loser (Beck)" but plays very few time on the stage. They visit Japan for the live tour on October but they didn't play Creep. I don't know why they don't play Creep often but I think it is because the band leader Tom York hate to do the routine work. Like as their music's type alternative rock.

In London, there are so many musical artists but almost all artists are as good as imitations. Therefore, there are few artists who become to be famous. Today, I introduce the "Razorlight" which is said "imitation" but became one of famous artists.
Razorlight started in 2003. These days in England, making band group was a trend. So there are many band groups which rid on the trend and Razorlight was also one of them.
Their music and looks were very simillar to the famous artist The Libertines so they were told "the imitation of The Libertines" but they played music so hard and played so many times in a place with live music that they became popular little by little. And now, they are one of the most famous artist in London like Coldplay, BLOCPARTY, Arcticmonkeys and so on.

Do you know the English artist “Coldplay”? Coldplay is one of the most valuable artists in the world. They are from London and they sales a lot of CDs.
Coldplay is made up of four members, Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion. They became band members when they are university students. Their songs’ type is called alternative (the rock which doesn’t have catchy or comfortable melodies) rock or piano rock, which is not according to current of the time.
They made many good songs and the 1st album “Parachutes “ sold about 9.5million. The vocal Chris Martin’s voice is so tender and members’ sounds are peaceful that their music is said “their songs answer in the affirmative to all living things”. Actually, the music they made give deep emotion to many people. Their CDs are sold well and especially in England, the albums they sold were always marks the first.

''Bangla''town in East London(4)

Now, Bricklane is very popular street because it became safe. On Sunday, Bricklane is crowded with people who come to buy begetable, discount goods, used furniture, fashionable wears or eat Bangladeshe curry. And there are many kinds of people, the rich, the poor, native, and foreigner. It is very wonderful sight that is surrounded by curry flavor, Bangladesh music, and many kinds of people.

''Bangla''town in East London(3)

I explained that Banglatown was ruined last time. But recently there are small changing in Banglatown.
The changing is about buildings. Unused beer factories were improved to cheap lental studioes that is for young creaters. It was beggining because young creaters gathered in Poatbellow shifted to the east for bubbling English economy from 1996. These creaters started to use ruined warehouses or factories as studioes.
Mainly who shifted to the east after this term are fashion creaters , but art creaters who must use many places to doing art were already started to shift so many years ago.
For these reasons, Bricklane becomes famous in art or fashion in 1999 because of these people.

''Bangla''town in East London(2)

In Banglatown, there are many curry restaurants.
In London, 90 percent of curry restaurants are Bangladeshi curry restaurant. So this town is the best curry restaurants' town in London. From these reasones, it is naturally to be cheaper and more delicious. But it is only 5 or 6 years ago that people from other community visit here and eat curry. Because this area was not safe secure.
Certainly it was 150 years ago that Jack the Ripper who is the worst murderer in London killed around in these area, but recently, Becaouse of lots of unused factories or warehouses become ruins, streets are so narrow, there is few street lights so it becomes very dark in night and so on, it is difficult to walk in this town after getting dark.

''Bangla''town in East London(1)

Recently, as you know, there are large numbers of Chinatowns all over the world. In Chinatown, there are so many kinds of Chinese stores like ''Rairai-ken'' or ''Caimei-kan'' that it is very interesting to visit.
By the way, do you know about ''Bangla''town? Probably you don't know about it, I think. ''Bangla''town is Bangladeshtown. So many Bangladeshi live here and run food shops or dress shops or something like that.
There is few city which has Banglatown. But in Bricklain in East London has it. 5 minutes walk from Liverpool Street station, at the edge of city, there is a town called ''East End'' and this is the Banglatown in East London. This town is conposed of immigrants from Bangladesh in 1970's. Originally, in these place, was immigrants' town. And there were some racial changes from Huguenot, Judaea, to Bangladeshi.
It is told that the Mosque (the religion of Islam's church) on the street was the Synagogue (the religion of Judaea's church) at the time when the most of people in here were Judaea.
